Surface Intelligence
Surface Intelligence is a pavement education series written for the people who have to approve pavement work without being pavement experts: property managers, HOA boards, facility teams, and commercial owners. It was created by Ryan Clark, and its guides and tools were migrated to The Pavement Directory in August 2026.
It is an education series, not a contractor. Surface Intelligence does not perform paving work, does not sell it, and is not a company you can hire through this page. The material exists to help someone read a bid, weigh a condition report, and understand what a scope of work is actually promising.
The series now lives inside the Directory rather than alongside it. Its guides sit in resources, its calculators in tools, and when you are ready to find someone to do the work, in the contractor directory.
Author disclosure: Ryan Clark works in commercial asphalt paving in California, so he has a commercial interest in the work these guides describe. The Pavement Directory is independent, is not affiliated with his employer, does not feature or rank any contractor in exchange for content, and does not route leads from this page.
