Pavement Cost Guides

Pavement work is a significant investment, and the same project can be quoted very differently depending on scope. These guides explain the typical price ranges for common pavement services and — more importantly — the factors that move the number, so you can read a bid critically instead of comparing bottom-line totals alone.

The ranges here are planning figures, not quotes. The accurate number for your property comes only from written, contractor-specific proposals based on a real site inspection.

About these ranges: Costs vary by region, project size, access, materials, labor, traffic control, disposal, site conditions, and scope. Use written proposals and contractor-specific pricing before making decisions.

What drives pavement cost

Across nearly every pavement service, four things account for most of the price difference between bids:

Project size

Larger areas spread fixed costs — mobilization, crew, and equipment — over more surface, which lowers the price per square foot. Small jobs carry minimum fees.

Scope and condition

Two bids for the same site can differ by thousands because they assume different work: more or less base repair, thicker asphalt, extra coats, or added markings.

Materials and durability

Better materials and higher application rates cost more up front but often lower the annualized cost. Asphalt prices also track energy costs and season.

Access and site conditions

Tight access, occupied properties, phasing, traffic control, and drainage or slope issues all add labor and time to a job.
