Project details
Tell us what you need done.
Rough answers are fine. We follow up if we need more. Looking for a specific company instead? Search the directory.
How it works
From first message to a decision.
- 1
Tell us about the project
Property type, what you need, where it is, roughly how big, and when. It takes a few minutes.
- 2
We review it, and scope it if you want
For larger or more involved jobs, a 10–20 minute call lets us write a recommended scope of work, so every contractor prices the same job.
- 3
Contractors quote the same scope
We introduce your project to independent contractors who work in your area. Quotes come back to you.
- 4
We help you compare
Send us the quotes and we will point out what is missing, what is excluded, and what to ask before you choose. The decision stays yours.
Contractor standards
What we check before we introduce a contractor.
- A business that takes the work you describe, in your area, with a working phone and email on file
- A contractor license number checked against the state licensing record, where the state requires one for the work
- A current certificate of insurance on file that we have looked at
- Contact details that match a real business, not a lead reseller or a call center
These are the same ideas behind the badges and verification rules used across the directory. A check confirms a document; it does not predict workmanship. Before you sign, confirm the license and insurance yourself using our proposal request checklist.
How this is funded: Matching, scope-of-work help, and quote review are free to you. The Pavement Directory may earn money from contractors, through listings, advertising, or fees for introductions. That does not change which contractors we consider for your project or what we say about their quotes, and we are not a paving contractor and do not perform the work.
What this is not: Our recommended scope of work is a plain-language outline to help you compare quotes. It is not an engineered design, a stamped drawing, a legal or code opinion, or a guarantee of any contractor's work. ADA, permit, and code requirements vary by location; confirm them with your local authority or a licensed professional.
Questions about free quotes
Is this really free?
Yes. Matching, the scope-of-work call, and quote review cost you nothing and carry no obligation to hire anyone. See the disclosure on this page for how The Pavement Directory is funded.
Will I get three quotes?
We aim to introduce your project to at least three suitable contractors, but availability depends on your area, the type of work, and the season. If we cannot find enough suitable contractors for your location, we will tell you instead of padding the list.
What does 'vetted' mean here?
It means the specific checks listed on this page: a business that takes your type of work in your area, a license checked against the state record where one is required, and a current certificate of insurance we have looked at. It does not mean we have inspected a contractor's work or that we guarantee it.
What is a scope of work, and why does it matter?
A scope of work is a written description of what will be done: the area, the thickness and materials, how the base is handled, what is removed, and what is left out. When contractors quote against different assumptions, the cheapest bid is often the one that quietly includes less. A shared scope puts every quote on the same terms.
What does the quote review cover?
We read the quotes you receive side by side and flag differences in quantities, thickness, base repair, exclusions, warranty, payment terms, and anything that looks missing or unclear. It is a plain-language review to help you ask better questions, not an engineering review or an endorsement of any contractor.
Do I have to take a phone call?
No. You can choose to be matched without a call. The scope-of-work call is optional and works best for larger lots or jobs with several moving parts.
Who sees my contact details?
We review every request before anything is sent. Your name, email, and phone number go only to the contractors we introduce your project to.
