Chip Seal Contractors in New Mexico
Use this page to find contractors who apply chip seal, also called a seal coat in roadway work. A binder is sprayed onto the pavement, aggregate is spread into it, and rollers embed the stone. It is usually the least expensive way to put a new wearing surface on a large area. This page lists chip seal contractors serving New Mexico, organized by city below.

Chip Seal FAQs
Is chip seal a good choice for a commercial parking lot?
Usually not for a customer-facing lot. The texture is coarse, loose stone is likely at first, and it does not stripe as cleanly as a smoother surface. Chip seal earns its place on private roads, rural roads, industrial yards, and long driveways, where covering a large area affordably matters more than finish quality.
How long does loose stone last after chip seal?
Some loose aggregate is normal at first. A sweeping pass after the surface takes traffic removes most of it, and a fog seal helps lock the remaining stone down. Ask whether sweeping is included — when it is skipped, loose stone becomes the lasting complaint about an otherwise sound job.
How does chip seal compare with slurry seal on cost and finish?
Chip seal is typically the cheaper of the two per square foot and the coarser of the two in finish. Slurry seal gives a smoother, more uniform surface that suits parking lots and stripes better. Local material and haul costs move the comparison, so get both quoted if the property could accept either.
