Roadway construction sits at the center of the company's work. The company traces its start to January 1963, when founder Ed Bell used a $20,000 loan from the Republic National Bank of Dallas to begin taking on alley paving and small street rehabilitation jobs for the City of Dallas. That municipal repair work grew into a much larger transportation contracting business; over the past two decades the firm has completed more than 150 TxDOT projects with a combined value exceeding $950 million, and it reports carrying in excess of $100 million in contracts in progress.
