Dateline Concrete & Masonry

Dateline Concrete & Masonry has built residential concrete and hardscaping across the Portland metropolitan area since 1998, giving it more than twenty-five years in the trade. It is licensed, bonded and insured under Oregon CCB number 181422, and has completed several hundred projects.

Patios and outdoor living space are the company's strongest area. Surfaces are laid in exposed aggregate, flagstone, brick or stamped concrete, with flagstone set either in mortar or on sand joints depending on the look and drainage wanted. Broom-finished concrete is available where a plainer surface suits. The work extends past the slab itself to pool and hot tub surrounds, outdoor kitchens and fire pit seating, so a whole outdoor room can be built by one contractor.

Driveways are installed in poured concrete or in brick and concrete pavers, with decorative options including exposed aggregate and stamped patterns. Aprons are replaced and expanded where the approach to a property needs it. The company emphasises correct grading and reinforcement, pointing to the wet Portland winter and its freeze-thaw cycling as the conditions a driveway there has to survive.

Retaining walls are built in river rock, cultured stone, brick or concrete, and steps and walkways in pavers, concrete, brick or flagstone. Masonry rounds out the range, covering garden walls, columns, brick borders and steps.

Stamped concrete is treated as a specialism in its own right, with ashler stone, cobblestone, slate and random rock among the patterns offered — the company positions it as a way to get the appearance of premium materials without their cost. Natural stone work uses river rock, slate and multicolour flagstone.
