Asphalt Busters Inc

Asphalt Busters has specialised in soil stabilization and asphalt pulverizing since 1989, working across Arizona and the wider Southwest. Its customers are other contractors and public agencies rather than property owners — municipalities, highway contractors, and the grading and paving firms who bring it in to prepare a surface before they build on it. The company is explicit that it does not offer paving and so will not compete with the contractors who hire it, which is the basis on which a paving firm can subcontract to it safely.

Pulverizing grinds up an existing asphalt roadway and blends it with several inches of the base beneath, producing a fully recycled base material. The saving is twofold: no haulage of the old surface away from site, and no purchase of virgin material to replace it.

Two stabilization methods are offered for ground that will not carry a road as it stands. Cement is spread and mixed into a failing subgrade to raise its structural strength. Lime slurry is used instead where soils are expansive or low-bearing, converting them into something stable enough to build on — a common requirement across the Southwest.

The equipment fleet runs to four pulverizer-stabilizers and five spreaders handling both dry material and slurry, with the transport and support vehicles behind them. Since 1989 the company has completed more than 8,000 projects across five states, working for upwards of 600 municipalities and contracting firms.

The project record shows the range of ground it works on: an interstate interchange, a state highway subgrade, an airport aircraft parking area, a hundred-acre distribution centre site, a sports complex, and cooling and sludge ponds at two power generating stations. Work is quoted by bid, at any scale from building pads and tennis courts up to major highways.
